Staggering Toward Monday

Wee little stomach bug over the weekend. Not the worst I've had, but, still, there is nothing redeeming about a stomach bug....except that it gave me the chance to catch up on some much needed sleep, and I got to lie in bad and finish The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie. Sue over at A Life Divided recommended the mystery as a tonic to Byatt, and she was exactly right. It was! I don't read a lot of mysteries, but it was a good, fun read. Thanks, Sue!

I'm sorry about the bug--no fun at all!--but glad you had some time to read. And I'm especially glad you liked the Bradley! (I would have felt bad if I'd steered you wrong after the Byatt.) Meanwhile, I have The Children's Book out of the library, but it hasn't left my shelf (yet). I hope you're feeling better.

I'm fully recovered if a bit behind in everything. Some people really loved the Byatt, and some of the scenes have really stayed with me....you never know. I'm thinking of Shadow lines next.

I'd be interested to hear your take on The Shadow Lines. I haven't read it recently, but I have read it multiple times (and taught it), and I really think it holds up. One of these days I'll read Sea of Poppies, but I'm not quite sure when.
