Running, a Love Story

I've become very committed to my runs. Three times a week I get on my shoes and go. When I don't go, I start to feel, I don't know, funny. I like how I feel after I run, and before I head out I'm excited, but during the run, it's just OK. Fine. Better than I thought it'd be, but nothing like a perfect swim or a yoga class (which, for the record, I can't take because it would take so long and I have a two-year-old wrist situation). All of this to say, I admire people who feel this way about running, but me, I don't think I'll ever get there.

as long as the funny feeling isn't guilt i think you're doing great!! and it might change too (for me, getting into better shape makes the running better too, tho a mostly linear, not exponential relationship).

also, did you see this? i'm always looking for a way to shorten the time spent on exercise since i have almost none to begin with!

It's not guilt! It's this itchy feeling in my legs that says, "If you don't run I'm going to explode!" Funny, but not ha-ha. I should check out that six minute thing.....but What Would Joan Say?

funny your comment re joan; my husband said something (sort of) similar - that we would benefit much better from a consistent meditation practice as compared to a consistent exercise regimen.

but hey - i think that itchy feeling must be a good thing.

Would that we had enough time that the two -- meditation and exercise -- weren't mutually exclusive!

Perhaps a walking meditation? Myself, I'm working on a running meditation.
