The Trumpiator

On April 18th, David Brooks wrote in his New York Times column:
"But I do insist that Trump is no joke. He emerges from deep currents in our culture, and he is tapping into powerful sections of the national fantasy life. I would never vote for him, but I would never want to live in a country without people like him."

Well, AP reports this morning that Donald Trump said this:
"I heard he was a terrible student, terrible. How does a bad student go to Columbia and then to Harvard?" Trump said in an interview with The Associated Press. "I'm thinking about it, I'm certainly looking into it. Let him show his records."

Of course, Barack Obama graduate magna cum laude from Harvard Law School and was President of the Law Review. I wonder if Brooks is still feeling like he wouldn't want to live in a country without people like Donald Trump....

I don’t want Trump to be president or even on the ballot as the Republican or an Independent candidate. However, I could not be happier about his campaign to force Obama to reveal some very basic information about himself that every other serious candidate for the presidency has had to share. It’s about someone taken on this glaring double standard.

ROBIN, it's the first time I read your blog. I surf to american blogs because I like to understand american culture and once in the future write a book about it. Your posts are very interesting. I understand what you think, because well, in Italy, we have a president..... :)

For the record, even Bill O'Reilly has acknowledged that the President released all necessary and appropriate documentation about his birth. Obama has never kept any of that material secret. This is the same kind of talk as the Vince Foster nonsense of the Clinton presidency.

I'm not sure if Trump would made a good President. Yes, he has been in debt numerous times, but he knows how to get out of debt and make millions and recover! Would he run our country like a business?
